Sparks Lake

Early summer is a great time to photograph Sparks Lake -- the lake's high water level provides interesting shorelines, with a backdrop of a still-snowy nearby peaks. And lake fog can form on cold mornings. So I'd been watching for a good time to head up there. After a recent evening thunderstorm in Bend, it looked like the following morning might be cold and the skies might also clear just enough for a interesting sunset that evening. It seemed to be worth the gamble, so I took off for an overnighter in Starr. The weather pretty much cooperated, especially compared to all the recent heavily clouded evenings and mornings!
