Tarangire National Park & Maramboi Tented Camp (October 5-7)
Tarangire National Park is one of Tanzania's larger parks, a 3+ hour drive south of West Kilimanjaro. It is known for its large herds of elephants, and it didn't disappoint. And we saw a huge variety of other animals, especially enjoying its giraffes. Another high point was seeing a cheetah with 3 cubs. We also bought some jewelry at a Masai women group's co-op just outside the park ... from the huge smiles on their faces we made their day (or was it their week?).
We spent our nights at nearby Maramboi Tented Camp, on the shores of Manyara Lake in the Great Rift Valley.
