Southern Oregon Road Trip

In late October/early November we found a vacancy at Crater Lake Lodge and structured a week-long roadtrip around it. After our night at Crater Lake we drove backroads to Burns (through Silver Lake, Paisley, & along the Abert Rim). Then down to Steens Mountain. It was hunting season so we stayed in three different places for our three nights in the area – Frenchglen Hotel, Diamond Hotel, and Steens Mountain Resort (we recommend the first two, especially Diamond Hotel). The first day we drove the Steens Mountain Loop; second day we drove out to Hart Mountain and back through Denio, Nevada; and the third day we explored Malheur Wildlife Refuge.
