Golden Lake
On August 10-12, Martha, Courtaney, Matt and I backpacked six miles into Golden Lake at the foot of Broken Top in the Three Sisters Wilderness. The trip's pictures have been divided into three separate galleries:
- Park Meadows -- On the hike in, we stopped at Park Meadows for a mid-afternoon break. This is an about 1/2 square mile area full of grasses, flowers, and multiple meandering streams. And I discovered a beaver dam, as well.
- Golden Lake -- Our main destination and home for two nights.
- Above Golden Lake -- As a day hike, we followed Golden Lake's inlet stream up into beautiful wildflowers, a couple of small tarns (aka ponds), and open areas right at the base of Broken Top. We also viewed the growing Lake George wildfire near Black Butte.
