Myanmar

Myanmar has long been on my photography "bucket list" and it didn't disappoint. We enlisted Gavriel to lead us on a private tour of the capital city of Yangon and the ancient city of Bagan after the conclusion of our Chhattisgarh group tour.

Myanmar (aka Burma) has a rich history as an Asian jewel, with fabulous Buddhist culture and shrines. Unfortunately, recent decades have been filled with regional tribal civil wars leading to a corrupt central military dictatorship. All this has resulted in Myanmar now being one of poorest Asian nations. For example, a significant portion of its rural population lives without electricity. Fortunately things have recently improved with national democratic reforms and attendant strong economic development.
